Still Alive and Kicking

Greetings all who still read Xanga, and specifically anyone who might have a subscription to my long-ignored xanga site. Who-hoo spring is almost here and my enthusiasm for blogging and taking pictures has returned!

We have had a great couple weekends and I thought I would upload some photos from Columbia MO to fill you in on happenings' here:

First, the sad news: Don and Robbie Lee have left us to voyage south to Ar-kansas. Why? We wish we knew! Our crying did not cause them to cease and desist in their exodus to the trailer-park state. We will sorely miss them as they are tres-fab.

We had a going-away party for them between services a couple weeks ago and Jana Cope made a most tasty cake:

Tiffany Zane (on the left above) is most gravid with child and due any day now.

When that happens Mr. Issac Zane (seen below with his papa) will no longer be an only child.  Ouch life can be hard for toddlers! Lance Nilson agrees and says 'Don't ever get pregnant people!'

This past weekend (Sunday March 9th) we had a great time--AWeave and Rachel McFarland came a-visiting and allowed me to snap a few shots of them:

They are so cute and cool, you have to love them. We suggested they move to Columbia and attend church with our happy group. We received no answer on the suggestion--perhaps they will think it over.

Clint Defrance came up and spoke for us during both services--edification was to be had by all. He is a great evangelist and handsome to boot--take note single ladies! Jessica laughed so hard at his "beggars can't be choosers" joke that she almost cried.

The dinner theme for the afternoon brought out the inner hobbit in me: pie.

I will close with a couple shots of younglings partying down yesterday: first sweet little miss Kennedy Miller charmed one and all with her babilicious good looks and positive attitude.

Logan Shaw was so excited about the 'pie' theme of the Sunday dinner that he had to dance like Steve Martin (notice Levi in the background, similarly thrilled).

Quinto Confirmed for Spock in Star Trek?
E! Online is reporting that "Heroes" star Zachary Quinto (he plays Sylar) is close to being confirmed for the role of Spock in the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek:

Zachary Quinto's chances of being Spock in the upcoming Star Trek film are looking extremely good. I hear the deal is about to close. Best. Casting. Ever.

Update: Jen here. Following up on K.G.'s brilliant scoop, I checked with a source who confirms that the Zachary Quinto-as-Spock contract is with the business affairs team at Paramount. Business affairs is generally considered the last stop on the deal-negotiation train. The deal only awaits sign-off from outside counsel. Squee.

Leonard Nimoy originated the role in the 1966 series. Star Trek hits theaters Christmas Day 2008.

"Guys do it all the time"

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  —  Country singer Mindy McCready was taken into custody Wednesday at Nashville International Airport, accused of violating her probation after a scuffle with her mother and authorities in Florida, officials said.

McCready, 31, was arrested last week in Fort Myers, Fla., her hometown, on misdemeanor charges that she scratched her mother on the face and then resisted sheriff's deputies.

She was on probation for obtaining the painkiller fraudulently at a pharmacy in 2004. Still pending was another probation violation charge resulting from a drunken driving arrest in May 2005.

Deputy District Attorney General Derek Smith told The Tennessean that she violated probation in three ways: by being charged in a new offense; not reporting those charges immediately to her probation officer; and by the nature of the new assault charges.

An official at the Williamson County sheriff's office just south of Nashville said McCready was being booked Wednesday night.

(McCready had a hit in 1996 with "Guys Do It All the Time." Her album "Ten Thousand Angels" sold 2 million copies that year.

The singer was found not guilty of the DUI charge in July 2006 but guilty of driving on a suspended license. She then pleaded guilty to violating her probation but has petitioned to withdraw that plea.

Ok, ok I don't plan on making all future Xanga posts mug shots of celebrity types... I just couldn't pass this one up. I was annoyed with the song "Guys do it all the time" back in the 90's and my annoyance still lingers, I guess. Anyway, I really am a positive guy, really.

I just love anyone that violates parole while simultaneously receiving a nasal abrasion while fighting with their Mom, especially if they are a pampered richie-Rich ex-star.

Reality Show Host Ty Pennington Arrested

LOS ANGELES -- Ty Pennington, host of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," apologized to his fans and co-workers Monday after he was arrested for investigation of drunken driving.

"I made an error in judgment," Pennington said in a statement released through his publicist, Stan Rosenfield.

"We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability. Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone," the reality TV host said.

Pennington was arrested on a misdemeanor charge shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday by the Police Department's West Traffic Division, according to inmate information posted on the county Sheriff's Department Web site.

Pennington was released two hours later after posting $5,000 bail and was due back in court June 4, according to the Web site.

"This was my wake-up call," Pennington said. "I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused."

Police officials said Monday they had no further information.

Sorry to dissapoint all you ladies.  I guess I shouldn't be casting any stones, though (my driving skills aren't the greatest har har).

The real question here (and we never know when dealing with these celebrity types) is whether or not this was staged to get more attention on Ty. As Hollywood often says, "There is no such thing as bad publicity."
